Sovereignty as a design principle
Deployment mode is not a pricing tier. It is a sovereignty decision, who controls the keys, who can inspect the data, and what outbound connections the substrate makes. Every mode is a structurally distinct posture.
Five deployment modes
Cloud, dedicated, on-premises, air-gapped, and joint-venture deployment modes are the closed set at v1. Each is documented, auditable, and carries its own set of operator obligations and participant rights.
Upgradeable and auditable
Substrate releases are signed bundles that operators apply on their own schedule. Every release is verifiable before application, so operators know exactly what they are installing before it runs on their infrastructure.
